To know what makes us human is not an easy task. We tend to approach this question with unexamined presuppositions we are not in control of, but that have too great an influence over us for us to know about them. This hinders a direct approach. [...] But why do we need to know what we are? In life we are rarely called to think about that, however this does not seem to stop anyone from living and succeed. [...] In which sense – if any – do we know what makes us human?
